The White House Office of Faith-based & Neighborhood Partnerships by Jeffery Leving

The Office of Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships links the federal government with secular and faith-based nonprofit organizations. Operating out of more than 10 federal centers, this entity has prioritized four key goals: enhancing the ability of nonprofit organizations to aid communities in economic recovery, decreasing unwanted pregnancies and supporting health initiatives for mothers and children, encouraging responsible parenthood, and creating a dialogue between groups of different belief systems.

To accomplish these aims, the Office of Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships promotes interaction between the various departments of the government and the nonprofit organizations that subscribe to their respective missions. It also provides these groups with resources related to applying for grants. Another important endeavor for the Office of Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships links is the 25-person President’s Advisory Council. In this program, the government selects leaders from different fields to serve one-year terms and offer guidance on various issues affecting the country.
